Herd of Cattle Saved Near Hammer & Steel's Texas Branch
Over the last week, the Houston suburb of Dayton, TX, home of Hammer and Steel’s Texas branch, witnessed something likely not seen in several generations. In order to save local herds from rising flood waters due to the recent heavy rains in the area, volunteer cowboys and cattle ranchers completed a cattle drive through the downtown area of the city, much to the dismay and excitement of the local population.
Cattle were herded across major highways and through local streets to avoid the rising waters over several days.
After all the cattle made it to drier, higher ground, participating rancher Pat Henscey estimated the operation saved over $1,000,000 worth of cattle.
